THE BEGINNING OF A NEW PHASE

Maybe you’ve been waiting for this moment with excitement, or maybe you’re completely unprepared—let’s be honest, who ever feels fully ready? Those two lines on a pregnancy test are about to change your life forever.

Pregnancy and giving birth bring so much to navigate, and they can significantly affect how we see ourselves. I reached this point six years ago—married for just over a year, and about to welcome our first son. I had just completed my master’s degree, the timing felt perfect, and the pregnancy was smooth. I even had some leave, so everything seemed manageable… but nothing could have fully prepared me for the sleepless nights, endless cries, and the complete dependence that follows having a newborn.

Once my leave ended, I was suddenly balancing a two-month-old baby alongside work. I remember thinking about quitting countless times, but I didn’t. Then, the global lockdown arrived, giving me a much-needed break. I realized that sometimes, all we need is a pause to regain ourselves.

It’s been a journey of almost six years, and I’m still learning on the job. But one lesson has stood out: having a structure and prioritizing self-care is absolutely crucial for creating balance as a working mom. Balance doesn’t just happen—you have to build it intentionally.

Through it all, I’ve discovered that motherhood and career don’t have to be opposing forces. With patience, boundaries, and a focus on what truly matters, it’s possible to thrive in both. And while the journey is challenging, it’s also deeply rewarding. Those early moments of chaos eventually turn into memories filled with love, growth, and pride.

So, whether you’re just seeing those two lines or navigating life with a toddler in tow, know this: it’s okay to feel unprepared, it’s okay to ask for help, and it’s more than possible to build a life where both your career and motherhood flourish..
